Router Compatibility for the Circle Device

We designed Circle to be compatible with as many routers and network extenders as possible, but we have not tested Circle with every single one out there. Most routers work just fine, but we have found some routers and extenders that require special configurations to work with Circle and others that are simply incompatible.

START HERE: How to use this help article

This article has a lot of information about router manufacturers and models. Use the dropdown menus to expand the section you want. You can search the page for your router manufacturer or read through the manufacturers to find your router in the lists.

Finding your router model
  • Look on the side or bottom of your router for the manufacturer name or model.
  • Search the Internet using identifying items on the router, like a name or serial number.
  • Talk with your Internet Service Provider to identify your router.
Not seeing your router manufacturer or model?
We expect Circle devices to work with most routers and extenders, if your router is not found on the list, there usually isn't any reason to believe that your router is incompatible.
What should I do if my router has compatibility issues?

If your router is listed below as having compatibility trouble, you have a few options.

  • (Circle Home Plus only) enable Compatibility Mode.
  • Reach out to your Internet Service Provider for a different router.
  • Purchase a compatible router and connect Circle to that.

You can also check out our Advanced Networking Guide to address common issues that may arise with more complex network setups.

Circle has tested or worked with many routers already. Find your router's manufacturer below to see the list of routers that Circle has specific information about to see if yours requires special setup or will have compatibility trouble.

Mobile hotspots, satellite connections, and extenders

Mobile hotspots (LTE routers) that connect via 4G or 5G data or satellite connections tend to be incompatible with Circle and we do not guarantee that Circle will work to manage these types of networks. See here for more info on these types of routers.

In addition, Circle does not recommend pairing your Circle unit directly with an extender. We designed Circle Home Plus to work with most extenders on the market when properly configured, but Circle with Disney and Circle Home Plus should be paired with your main 2.4ghz network, not with the network created by your extender.

For more information on using Circle with extenders, check out this article.
