Set up Circle with your ASUS RT-AC5300 or GT-AC5300 router and unable to get devices to connect to the Internet? Unable to set up Circle at all?
These router have been known to have some issues with Circle.
The first thing you'll want to check, after connecting Circle via Ethernet, is three different features that can affect the operation of this router when used with Circle. They are called Two-Way IPS, Infected Device Prevention and Blocking, and Game Boost. All of these need to be off and can be accessed from the router control panel.
We would suggest to test after each major change you make so that you can determine what the issue is and don't disable anything you don't need to. As well, you can try rebooting the router after each change.
Ethernet
Try plugging Circle in via Ethernet to your router. This can help ensure the best connection is available. If the Circle app does not connect to the Circle Home device after this change and a reboot of both, you can unplug the Ethernet and try the following.
Two-Way IPS
To disable Two-Way IPS:
- From the navigation panel, go to General > Game IPS.
- From the Game IPS main page, click Network Protection.
- From the Two-Way IPS pane, click ON to turn it off.
Infected Device Prevention and Blocking
To disable infected device prevention and blocking:
- From the navigation panel, go to General > Game IPS.
- From the Game IPS main page, click Network Protection.
- From the Infected Device Prevention and Blocking pane, click ON to turn it off.
Game Boost
To disable the Game Boost feature:
- From the navigation panel, go to General > Game Boost> Game Boost tab.
- In the middle of the page click ON to turn this feature off.
Additionally, if any of these features appear as OFF, please do turn them ON and back OFF and the save the configuration. There is a feature called the Router Weakness Scan, which if ever run, can result in one or more of the above features actually being on, even if the switch is set to off.
