If you're thinking about buying Circle Home Plus and you have previous experience using our Circle 1st generation product or Circle on NETGEAR, we're here to help you get set up!
How can I move my family's Profiles to Circle Home Plus?
Due to compatibility issues between Circle 1st generation and Circle Parental Controls, you won't be able to back up and restore your Profiles from Circle 1st generation app directly. That said, we have built a tool to help you make the move from Circle 1st generation to Circle Parental Controls, which you can learn more about toward the bottom of this article.
The Circle Parental Controls app will guide you through the process of creating a new Circle account, adding your subscription, and making family member Profiles to ensure your family members' devices are managed appropriately.
How do I cancel my old subscription?
Before you move over to Circle Home Plus, make sure you cancel any current subscriptions to Circle Go or NETGEAR Premium. You can get help managing your Circle subscriptions here.
What should I do with my old box?
Done using your old Circle Home device? Make sure you've factory reset it to remove any personal data from the device. Afterward, you can give it to a friend or family member or recycle it using your local electronics recycler.
What's new with Circle Home Plus?
With the release of Circle Home Plus, we've included a ton of improvements. Your subscription includes mobile management for all your family's iOS and Android devices across all networks. We've also included a new feature for Location tracking so you can keep track of your family's Android or iOS devices no matter where they go. Your account is now stored safely in the cloud for easy access and secure login. The new Circle Home Plus hardware has also been totally upgraded; the case is more secure and now has faster connection speeds with full gig ethernet!
Is this new version compatible with my network?
We've made Circle Home Plus to be compatible with as many networks as possible. We've also moved to an ethernet-first setup process, so things should work even better with a larger number of routers. Check out this link for network requirements and this one for known compatibility issues.
Can I use my old box with this new app?
Circle Home Plus is an entirely new product, so you won't be able to use your old Circle Home hardware with the new Circle Parental Controls app or features. The new features available with Circle Home Plus are not included in the Circle 1st generation.
Does Circle Home Plus require a subscription?
When you buy Circle Home Plus from a retailer like Amazon, Best Buy, etc. you get our Circle subscription included for a full year. Subscription gets you benefits like full use of the Circle Home Plus suite of features. After that year you can decide if the subscription is worth it for you. If you choose not to renew, you'll still be able to use Filter, Usage, and History for as long as you'd like with your family's devices.
Will Circle 1st generation still get updates?
Small updates will still be made to the Circle 1st generation product. Eventually, the product will no longer be supported for updates.
Migrating to Circle Parental Controls using the profile and device list
Setting up your new Circle Parental Controls account is easy. However, you may have a large number of devices in your current Circle with Disney account that will need to be reassigned to the right profiles in your new account.
Circle is able to email your Circle with Disney device list broken down by profile to help you stay organized as you make the move. Use this list to cross-reference the devices that appear in your new Circle Parental Controls app to ensure they are assigned to the right profile for your family. This list will include each device's MAC address (unique ID number) in case their names show up a little differently between your two accounts.
To receive your Circle 1st generation device list
- Make sure that your Circle with Disney device is powered ON and is currently managing your home network.
- Go to https://subscribe.meetcircle-blue.com/migrate/ to request your device list.
- Enter your email address and click Submit.
- You will receive an email from Circle entitled "Your Device List by Profile is here!" with all the info you need. Your device list will look something like this:
Jamie
Device name Mac address Jamie's Phone f0:25:37:d0:7b:e3 Jamie's Chromebook c0:12:b5:33:ee:2e Jamie's iPhone 04:a1:34:eb:9a:be
If you receive an email entitled "Regarding your request for Device List," we encountered a problem reaching your Circle with Disney while trying to complete your request. Confirm that it is plugged in and managing your Wi-Fi before trying again. - Reference the device names or MAC addresses to identify the devices that show up in your new Circle Parental Controls account and assign them to the appropriate family member’s profile.
The profile and device email is not available for Circle on NETGEAR accounts.
