Circle works with most routers, but occasionally it will have certain problems with a select few. The Pace 5268AC is one that we get support calls on often, so here are some troubleshooting steps if you run into errors while setting Circle up with this particular router.
During setup
If you're having trouble setting up Circle with this router, make sure of the following:
- Circle is close to the router. We recommend 3-5 feet.
- The Ethernet cord is not plugged in.
- You've recently rebooted Circle and the router.
In addition to the above, you may need to plug in the Ethernet cord to Circle and the router during setup to continue. We recommend doing so as soon as the white light on the back of Circle is solid, but not before.
Managing devices
When you're assigning your devices to your family members profiles, make sure that you only assign devices you recognize. If you don't recognize a device, wait to assign it to "Unmanaged" at the end of setup. You can always move it later. We especially recommend setting any device with a manufacturer of "ARRIS" or "Circle" to "Unmanaged".
After setup
If you're having issues with the Pace 5268AC router after you've paired Circle with it, check your Devices list. Open the list by in the Circle app by tapping on the devices icon in the top-right. Then look for any device you don't recognize and assign it to Unmanaged by tapping on it, tapping "Assigned to..." and check "Unmanaged".
Other possible workarounds
Enabling compatibility mode for Circle may resolve some of the above issues. You can read more about compatibility mode here. Compatibility Mode is not available on the Circle 1st generation app or Circle with Disney devices.
