When you set up your Circle device for the first time, you might be a little confused about which device is which on your network. We've made a guide to help with that!
The best way to figure out what device you're seeing is to identify its MAC address. The MAC address is the ID that your network uses to identify your device's network interface, and thus web traffic from your device. Below we've listed out how to find the MAC address for some of the most popular devices.
iOS Devices
To find your iOS device's MAC address open Settings >> General >> About >> and then scroll down to WiFi Address.
Android Devices
Every Android is a little different, but you should be able to find your MAC address by heading to Settings >> About Phone/Tablet >> Status >> WiFi MAC Address.
Mac Computers
On your Mac, open up System Preferences >> Network >> Advanced and your WiFi Address should be listed at the bottom of the page.
Windows Computers
The quickest way to find your MAC address on a Windows computer is to open up a command prompt and type "getmac" and then hit enter. You'll see your MAC address listed there.
You can also see your MAC address by searching for "Network Connections", select "View...", right-click on your connection and click "Status", then click "Details" and your MAC address will be listed under "Physical Address".
Other Devices
Using a device other than something above? If it's on your network, it has a MAC Address. Use your favorite search engine to look for the name of the device and "MAC address" and something helpful should pop up. Otherwise check your device's documentation, or the Settings for the device. Usually the MAC address will be listed there for you under Status, Networking, or something similar.
