Circle is able to manage Internet connection requests for any mobile devices that have the kid app installed. Additionally, if you have Circle Home Plus paired with your router, Circle can manage online activity for any devices that access the internet using your home network.
To help clarify what this means, here is what Circle can and cannot manage on the devices in your home:
Circle can manage:
- Internet connections on the home network (with Circle Home Plus)
- Internet connections of mobile devices that have the Circle kid app installed over at home, over data, or on other networks
Circle cannot manage:
- Apps that do not use the internet to function
- Games that are played offline, such as game consoles using a disk or game apps that don't require an Internet connection
- Activity that occurs across a local network and is not transmitted across the internet, even if the network is managed by Circle Home Plus
- Internet connections of mobile devices that do not have the Circle kid app installed and are not on a network managed by Circle Home Plus
- Incoming push notifications for mobile devices
- Phone calls or text messages that reply upon the cell network
- iMessage in most cases
Can Circle manage which media my kids access on an allowed platform?
Circle manages access to platforms like YouTube and Netflix and also enables families to use some tools provided by other services, like YouTube Restricted Mode and Safe Search capabilities for Google and Bing.
Circle does not manage specific content within an approved platform. For example, while Circle can manage access to Netflix, it does not manage which shows or movies can be viewed if a family member has permission to go to Netflix. The is true of specific content on platforms like Snapchat or Instagram. If a kid has access to the service, they will have access to the content that exists on that service.
