You may notice that your child's device continues to receive push notifications, despite the fact that their profile is on a Bedtime, Focus Time, or is Paused. This is a known limitation of the Circle software.
Why is this happening?
Circle works by managing outgoing requests to the Internet for devices that are assigned to a profile. Push notifications work by sending information to devices without those devices first requesting something from the service, sort of like an incoming phone call. Because push notifications come in on their own, Circle will not prevent them from being delivered to a mobile device.
Is Circle still working?
Here is how you can confirm that Circle is still managing that device properly after a push notification arrives.
- Unlock the mobile device that is receiving the push notifications
- Go to the site or app that the notification came from
- Confirm that the site or app will not load while that device is on Bedtime, Focus Time, or Pause
