Zoom is a video conferencing app frequently used by schools and businesses to facilitate meetings, classes, webinars, and other similar events. Increasingly, it is being used for online classrooms and remote education. Read on how to unblock Zoom for your profiles below!
How to manage Zoom using Circle's Filter settings
The following is only available for Circle Parental Controls and Circle Home Plus users. See "How to allow Zoom with Custom Website Filters" if you're using Circle 1st generation.
- Open the profile you want to manage Zoom for.
- Tap Filter.
- Locate the Zoom app at the bottom of the Popular Apps & Websites list.
- Tap the toggle to select the correct filter settings (Allowed, Not Allowed, or Unmanaged).
Note: we recommend setting that Filter setting to Unmanaged if you want Zoom to always be available for classes or meetings, and to not count against Time Limits. - Tap Save.
How to manage Zoom from a profile's Usage
The following is only available for Circle Parental Controls and Circle Home Plus users. See "How to allow Zoom with Custom Website Filters" if you're using Circle 1st generation.
- Open the profile you want to manage Zoom for.
- Tap Usage.
- Locate Zoom in the Usage list for the day and tap on it. If you don't see any Usage, you can look at a previous day's Usage when Zoom time accumulated.
- Pick the option from the list of management options that you want for this family member (see screenshot below).
- To review the change, return to the main profile screen and tap Filter. You should see Zoom in that list.
How to allow Zoom with Circle Filter Categories
- Open the profile you want to enable Zoom for.
- Tap Filter.
- Set the Business filter to Allowed by tapping on the button next to it.
- Set the Chats and Forums filter to Allowed by tapping on the button next to it.
Note: You can also tap again to set it as Unmanaged. We recommend setting that Filter setting to Unmanaged if you want Zoom to always be available for classes or meetings, and not count against Time Limits.
Warning: the Pre-K and Kid Filter Level by default filter a number of categories and popular apps / websites that may be required for school assignments. If your kiddo's need access to sites like Google Classroom, Hangouts / Meet, Zoom, etc. that are part of the Business or Chat and Forums category consider using the Teen filter level for their devices or setting up a separate school profile that has those set to Allowed.
How to allow Zoom with Custom Website Filters
- Open the profile you want to enable Zoom for.
- Tap Filter.
- Open the Custom Website Filters. (Read more about Custom Website Filters)
- Enter zoom.us and tap to set it as Allowed.
Note: You can also tap again to set it as Unmanaged.
Still not able to load a Zoom meeting? Try setting up other Custom Filters from the History >> Visited or Filtered and Usage view by tapping on the URL you want to unblock and setting it as Allowed or Unmanaged.
