When you set up the Circle app on a mobile device to manage it outside the home, it runs in the background to ensure traffic is monitored. This can increase battery usage on the device to some extent, particularly on older devices. You may also see that your operating system says the app is using more battery than it actually is.
Because of how it works, Circle relates to battery life differently than many other apps. Here are some insights for ensuring that the right things are happening with Circle and to protect the battery life of your mobile devices.
My device says Circle is using a lot of battery!
If you check battery use on a device being managed by the Circle app, you may see a large percentage of battery use attributed to Circle. The battery usage you see may be inaccurate based on how the operating system reports that. Because Circle is managing the Internet activity on that device, the operating system will often attribute the online traffic from another app on the device to the Circle app. This will inflate the battery use percentage for Circle.
How can I improve battery usage when using Circle?
If you are seeing elevated battery usage on your device after installing and setting up the Circle app, you can try a couple of things to improve battery performance:
- Make sure to force close out apps when you are not using them. If possible, have your operating system close unused apps automatically.
- Try uninstalling any apps that you don't use regularly.
- Put the device in airplane mode when not in use.
- If the device is primarily used at home, uninstall the Circle app from the device and manage it through your Circle Home Plus.
